Walk up to the Billing take-off on foot, then fly down to Bir with the Dhauladhar in front of you.

We meet at the landing field and walk up the forest road to Billing. It takes about two hours at a steady pace with a stop halfway.
Harness fitting and a proper briefing at the top, with the valley in front of you. Tashi will not launch in conditions he would not fly himself.
Fifteen to twenty-five minutes in the air depending on the thermals, landing back at the field you started from.
Chai at the landing field and your GoPro file sent over the same evening.

Tashi called off the first launch because the wind switched and we waited forty minutes on the hill. Then it was perfect. I would rather wait than be flown off a ridge in bad air.

The walk up is the part nobody mentions and it is genuinely lovely — deodar forest the whole way. The flight was almost a bonus.

Great morning. Note that the pilot chooses whether you fly, so build in a spare day if you are only here for the weekend.

The landing field below the monastery. We walk up from here rather than driving, which is why the start is early.

Tashi has flown Billing for eleven years and is rated P3 by the Himachal paragliding association. He walks the take-off hill rather than driving it, which is why this trip starts at the bottom.
Two hours of uphill walking to 2,400 m, then a flight. The walk is the demanding half.
Free cancellation up to 48 hours before the start. Flying is weather-dependent and the pilot's decision is final; if we cannot fly we refund the flight portion.
